Eleven Reasons You Need Jesus Christ

A lesson for the unsaved and for the Christian; eleven compelling reasons that we need Jesus Christ in our lives.

Follow along with this outline

  1. Truth – You cannot know truth without Jesus Christ
    • Colossians 2:3 “In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
  2. Life – You need the life only Christ can give you – unending life!
    • Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
  3. Death – We can’t escape physical death, but Jesus defeated death and offers this power to all who believe him.
    • 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
  4. Sin – Without Christ, all of our sins are accounted to us. We need his blood to be forgiven of our sins!
    • Romans 5:11 “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
  5. Peace – You can have peace with Jesus
    • Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”
    • Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
  6. Hope – Without Christ there is no hope beyond our death; he gives us the hope of glory!
    • Colossians 1:26-27 “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”
  7. Grace – God’s magnificent grace gives all these things to us freely, even though we don’t deserve them. God’s grace is provided through Jesus.
    • Romans 5:15 “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.”
  8. Suffering – Without Christ there is no solution for suffering; he provides us comfort.
    • 2 Corinthians 1:9 “But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:”
    • Ephesians 4:21-23 “If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;”
  9. Strength – When this life overwhelms us, Jesus gives us inner strength to make the right choices and resist evil.
    • Phillipians 4:11 “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
  10. Prayer – A prayerful man understands his need for God; prayers are answered through Christ
    • Ephesians 3:11-16 “11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”
  11. Joy – You can find so much more joy through Christ than without him.
    • Romans 5:11 “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”

Unfortunately, too many people don’t acknowledge their need for Christ. Don’t get caught up in seeking your own: Philippians 2:21 “For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.”
